The VEC has a number of special voting arrangements for electors who are unable to attend a voting centre in their electorate on election day.
Registration as an overseas elector does not mean that you will automatically be sent ballot papers. You can vote, either in person at designated voting locations, or by applying for a postal vote. During the election a list of voting locations will be available on this website.
If you are travelling for a short period, you can vote at an early voting centre before you leave. There will be early voting centres at Melbourne and Avalon airports. While you are away you can vote at designated voting locations overseas or interstate.
If you have a postal address for your holiday destination, you can apply for a postal vote and have it sent to that location.
Electronic voting facilities will be available for Victorian electors based in Antarctica.
Defence staff that are deployed overseas can apply to vote as general postal voters. A ballot pack will be automatically sent out before each election.
Only prisoners serving a sentence of five years or less are entitled to vote. For more information, please see our brochure about enrolment and voting for prisoners (PDF 346kB, DOC 84kB).
